About the project
Translation Foundation is an open volunteer project for film subtitles in Georgian and English. Anyone can take part.
What it does
Volunteers make Georgian subtitles for foreign films, and English subtitles for Georgian films. The aim is simple: more films that Georgian speakers can watch in their own language, and more Georgian films that people abroad can watch and learn from.
How it works
- Only films that allow it. Public domain, open licences, or written permission. Which films can be subtitled
- Every file is reviewed by a second person before it is published.
- Volunteers are credited by name or nickname on every file they make or review.
- No ads, no tracking. Privacy
Licence
Published subtitles are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0). Anyone may use, share and adapt them, including commercially, as long as they credit the translators and share their changes under the same licence.1
The licence covers the subtitles only. The films belong to their rights holders, under their own licences.
Removal requests
If you hold the rights to a film and believe subtitles here should not have been published, write to translation@foundation.ge with:
- the film and the subtitle file concerned
- who you are, and what rights you hold
- how to reach you
The file is taken offline while the request is checked.
